Reunion | Diocese of Wisconsin
The three Episcopal dioceses in Wisconsin, met on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at a joint special convention in Baraboo, Wisconsin and voted overwhelmingly to reunite as the Diocese of Wisconsin. The reunited diocese includes 101 congregations and more than 11,500 baptized Episcopalians across the state.
The three dioceses discerned reunion through a collaborative process called the Trialogue, which began in the fall of 2021. A steering committee that included Bishop Matt Gunter and leaders elected by the governance bodies of all three dioceses oversaw the process, which culminated in the special convention.
As one of its final acts of its June 23-28, 2024, meeting, the 81st General Convention approved the reunion of the Diocese of Wisconsin and there was celebration on the floor of the House of Deputies and later in the House of Bishops.
Bishop Gunter is now the 12th Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Wisconsin
