Background

The Bishop’s Cross is intended to honor individuals who have provided outstanding service to the Episcopal Church, especially on the diocesan and congregational levels. The Rt. Rev. Russell E. Jacobus established this award in 1997. Because it is a diocesan award, it is presented at the Convention of the Diocese of Fond du Lac. Nominations are submitted to Bishop Gunter, who will determine recipients after prayerful consideration.

Nominations Accepted

​Nominations for the Bishop’s Cross are open at any time and may be made by sending a letter or email to Bishop Matt  with information on the candidate for consideration. Please share background information about the candidate's faith life, involvement in diocesan ministries, and involvement on the congregational level. Nominators may also include information about service to the national church and community activities. The nomination must include the candidates contact information (address, phone and email). Those received by September 30th are considered for the the current year’s award.
