An important part of stewardship is reviewing financial records to reduce risk of loss, improve confidence for those who give, and help protect our church. national canons require an annual review with report made to the Diocesan Office no later than September 1st. To simplify the process and keep costs low, the diocese offers the services of a Congregational Financial Review Team with members experienced and knowledgeable in Episcopal Church financial systems. Their role is to examine and review church accounts to determine that funds coming in, going out, or being held are accounted for, managed and reported appropriately.

Congregations may have an on-site, form only or informal review based on their history. Fees may be reduced or waived by the Finance Committee following a written request sent to the Diocesan Treasurer. |
Process
Each congregations is send a "Starting Your Review" packet. Performing a review typically takes up to 60 days to complete.
Of Clergy Discretionary Funds.
A review report of any clergy discretionary funds must be submitted. These reviews are often performed by a cleric not connected to the congregation. The Financial Review Team may conduct this review at additional charge.
- Collect Financial Information
-Letter of Engagement.
-Copies of key financial documents
-Internal Controls Questionnaire. - On-Site Visit (only those assigned)
On-site review of records and procedures. - Report
Financial Review Report is provided for the Vestry - Respond
-A Summary of Actions to address deficiencies or implement recommendations.
-Certification of Acceptance.
